Wat Suwannawat was also known as Wat Klang. In situ is a small sermon hall with an intact front entrance wall. The Fine Arts Department has reconstructed its basic foundation, but the remaining three walls are missing. The main pedestal of the sermon hall has a large, armless Buddha image with most of his face still visible.
Behind this ubosot is a sizeable bell-shaped chedi with an octagonal base. Similar bell-shaped chedi are at both sides of the sermon hall's entrance.
Wat Suwannawat was restored by King Mongkut (reign 1851-1868 CE) during the Rattanakosin period. Excavations at this site uncovered a Chinese-style image of Buddha preaching, dating to the Ming Dynasty (16th-17th Century). The Chao Sam Phraya Museum currently has this marble image on display.
