Beautiful walk in the pond area Midden-Limburg.

The pond area Midden-Limburg is a pond-rich core area in De Wijers, a region in the middle of the Belgian province of Limburg.
The area is roughly located south of the E314, east of the Albert Canal and west of the railway line from Hasselt to Mol. It is therefore, as the name implies, in the middle of the province of Limburg and is the largest pond area in all of Belgium with a total area of more than 4000 ha. The landscape is very wooded with both deciduous and coniferous trees but there are also very valuable agricultural areas and a wide variety of fauna and flora. There are about 1,175 ponds, or wijers in the dialect, with a water surface of 700 hectares. The most famous hiking area in this region is the Platwijers near Zonhoven.
