Badminton House is a large country house in Badminton, Gloucestershire, England, and has been the principal seat of the Dukes of Beaufort since the late 17th century, when the family moved from Raglan Castle, which had been ruined in the English Civil War.

The sport of Badminton was re-introduced from India and popularised at the Badminton House, hence the sport’‘s name.

Now, the Badminton House is best known for the annual Badminton Horse Trials. “Badminton” takes place in May each year in the park of Badminton House the seat of the Dukes of Beaufort.

This castle was also the location for some scenes of the film The Remains of the Day, starring Anthony Hopkins as Stevens and Emma Thompson as Miss Kenton, with James Fox, Christopher Reeve, Hugh Grant, and Ben Chaplin.
