HMV moved from its original location in 2000 after 80 years. Its shop at 150 Oxford Street is Europe's largest music shop (50,000 square feet or 5,000 m²).
It was at HMV that, after failing to impress Decca Records with the Beatles's music , Epstein went to transfer the Decca tapes to discs. There, recording engineer Jim Foy referred him to Sid Coleman, who ran EMI's publishing arm, which would lead to a one-year renewable contract and their first recording session on 6 June 1962 at EMI's Abbey Road Studios.
