Thirsk is a market town and civil parish in the Hambleton district of North Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire, it is 8 miles south-south-east of the county town of Northallerton.
The town is well known for its racecourse; being depicted as Darrowby by local author, James Herriot, and quirky displays by its local yarnbombers.
