You can find the link between delicious wine and decapitation in the Château de Varennes.

It was expected that the owner of this castle, living here during the French Revolution, was in favour of the French King Louis XVI. This was not taken lightly, and he got decapitated for that reasons.

The castle was sold by the state. From 1809, the family Chaveriat became owner of the castle.

In the castle, you can get a taste of the delicious Beaujolais wine, which is made on the estate.

Check the linked route.
