La famille de brasseurs Vanden Stock, dont le fils Constant est devenu célèbre comme président du RSC-Anderlecht, s’est installée en 1968 dans un bâtiment existant pour brasser, entre autres, du lambic. La brasserie Belle-Vue a été rachetée en 1991 par InBev et la production sur le site s’est arrêtée cinq ans plus tard. En mai 2013, l’ancienne brasserie a été transformée en deux hôtels, un restaurant social, un centre de formation pour les personnes peu scolarisées, des appartements à faible consommation énergétique et le musée MIMA. L’un des deux hôtels est le tout premier hôtel de Bruxelles, et de Belgique, à être 100 % passif. Le projet Belle-Vue a également été l’un des premiers grands projets de reconversion le long du canal entièrement achevé.
