Le Valkenberg est connu comme l’une des ascensions utilisées dans le Tour des Flandres classique. C’est l’une de ces vilaines ascensions pour lesquelles le Tour des Flandres est connu. Dans le passé, c’était une route pavée étroite. Mais il a été pavé d’asphalte en 1973. L’ascension était et fait également partie d’autres randonnées cyclistes célèbres telles que: Omloop Het Volk / Omloop Het Nieuwsblad et Dwars door Vlaanderen.
