« À Nederbrakel, une véritable foule se forma en février 1847 lorsque le propriétaire d'un chien tua son fidèle compagnon à quatre pattes, le dépouilla et proposa le carcasse à la vente. Environ 300 personnes seraient venues à la rumeur qu'il y avait de la viande à acheter à bas prix. »
