Alhaurín el Grande est une commune de la province de Malaga dans la communauté autonome d'Andalousie en Espagne. Elle fait partie de la comarque Valle del Guadalhorce et de la circonscription judiciaire de Coín.L'origine du nom actuel de la commune est due aux Arabes, qui l'ont nommé Al-Haur se transformant par la suite en Alhaurín. Toutefois, l'origine de ce nom pourrait venir des romains. Pline mentionnait la commune sous les termes d' «Andorisae» ou «Andorisippo». Les Romains l'avaient ensuite baptisée du nom de Lauro Nova ce qui peut expliquer sa transformation en Al-Haur par les Arabes. Les Rois Catholiques ont ajouté «el Grande» pour la distinguer de la ville voisine d'Alhaurín de la Torre après la conquête des deux lieux en 1485.
