In June 1965, Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth II appointed the four Beatles Members of the Order of the British Empire, MBE. The Beatles received their MBEs at Buckingham Palace. The band members were nominated by Prime Minister Harold Wilson (who also was the M.P. for Huyton, Liverpool).
