The Salar de Uyuni salt flats contain a lot of lithium. According to the last US Geological Survey, there would be 9 million tonnes of lithium here which is about a 1/4 of the world’s known resources of lithium. Lithium is increasingly required for the batteries that power phones, laptops and other electronic devices.
