Endstra stond bekend om de aankoop van blokjes vastgoed, het liefst in Amsterdam Oud-Zuid. Deze huizen (Minervalaan 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Gerrit van der Veenstraat 102, 104, 106, 108, 110, 112 - Beethovenstraat 7, 9 ) kocht hij in 1991. Bijna tien jaar later kreeg de inlichtingendienst van de Amsterdamse politie de tip dat Endstra de panden kocht om voor xtc-handelaar Ronald van Essen crimineel vermogen wit te wassen. Na een ruzie om bij Endstra geïnvesteerd geld, die eind 1999 culmineerde in een mislukte moordaanslag op Van Essen, werden de panden volgens deze tip overgenomen door Sam Klepper en John Mieremet, destijds de absolute kopstukken uit de onderwereld. Holleeder beschreef tijdens het proces hoe deze deal werd beklonken in een Chinees restaurant bij het Olympisch Stadion in Amsterdam.
