Het kleine natuurreservaat De Enk is een restant van een voormalige rivierarm van de destijds onbedijkte IJssel richting de Zuiderzee. Het water stroomde over het gedeelte van Kamperveen dat men nu het 'buitenland' noemt. Door de aanleg van de Nieuwendijk werd de Enk afgedamd en ontstond er een nieuwe doorgangsroute. De landerijen rondom de Enk waren zeer vruchtbaar en er groeide veel waardevol riet en biezen. Het gebied is nog altijd een hooi-en rietlandgebied met veel weidevogels. In de zomer kunt u hier met een beetje geluk zwarte sterns of een jagende bruine kiekendief zien.
