Het Güell-paleis kwam tussen 1885 en 1890 tot stand. Eusebio Güell was de opdrachtgever. Het betreft de eerste grote seculiere bouwopdracht van Antoní Gaudí. De versmelting van structuur en decoratie, een kenmerk van Gaudi’s latere werken, is in dit gebouw reeds te zien. De invloed van de Moorse architectuur is hier groter dan in zijn latere werken. Dit uit zich in abstracte minutieuze decoraties. Ook de schermachtige elementen die in enkele kamers zijn opgetrokken voor de ramen doet Oosters aan.
