Amwell ist ein Dorf im Landkreis Hertfordshire, England. Es liegt 1 1⁄2 Meilen südöstlich von Ware und etwa 20 Meilen nördlich von London. Great Amwell ist auch der Name der Gemeinde im Bezirk East Hertfordshire.
Die anglikanische Kirche ist St. Johannes dem Täufer gewidmet. Das East India College wurde hier 1806 gegründet, um junge Männer für den öffentlichen Dienst der East India Company in Indien auszubilden. Es ist jetzt eine Privatschule, das Haileybury College.
