Il centro comunale di Schepdaal si trova proprio sulla dorsale orientata est-ovest che va da Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Lombeek a Dilbeek. Questa dorsale, alta quasi 100m sopra il livello del mare, si eleva di circa 70m sopra le valli dei fiumi e dei corsi d'acqua più bassi. La vecchia strada di Geraardbergs seguiva quasi perfettamente questa naturale dorsale.
