34. Halfweg de 19de eeuw vond de toenmalige heer van Loenhout, Albert Montens d'0osterwijck dat de meisjes van het dorp recht hadden op regelmatig onderwijs. Hij zag in Herberg De Keizer het ideale schoolgebouw. Het goed werd gekocht in 1858 en reeds op 11 oktober van datzelfde jaar kwamen de kloosterzusters van Gijzegem er zich vestigen. Toen in 1984 de Zusters vertrokken uit Loenhout, kreeg het gebouw een nieuwe bestemming en werd het een papier- en krantenzaak. Daarna werd het weer omgevormd tot taverne “De Keizer”. Met de renovatie in 1996 werd Herberg De Keizer terug in ere hersteld.
