L'église Saint-Martin date du 12ème siècle, mais a bien sûr été reconstruite et modifiée de nombreuses fois au cours de ces neuf siècles. Vous y trouverez de nombreux trésors artistiques, mais le chef-d'œuvre est certainement le 'Triptyque du Saint-Esprit' de Bernard de Rijckere, datant de 1587 : une scène de la Pentecôte avec le baptême de Jésus et la création d'Adam. La tour de sacrements unique de 6,50 mètres de haut, datant de 1585, est également très impressionnante. Des objets religieux précieux, tels que des chasubles et des ornements d'autel du 16ème siècle, peuvent être admirés dans la chapelle Saint-Éloi, qui est aménagée en salle au trésor. La première carillon complète de Courtrai - 49 cloches - se trouve dans le clocher de l'église Saint-Martin.
