"In Nederbrakel kam es im Februar 1847 zu einem wahren Volksauflauf, als ein Hundebesitzer seinen treuen Vierbeiner tötete, ausweidete und das Kadaver zum Verkauf anbot. Es sollen 300 Menschen auf das Gerücht gekommen sein, dass es billiges Fleisch zu bekommen gab."
