Deze voormalige opslagplaats voor textiel werd in 1926, naar een ontwerp van A. Warny, opgetrokken in art-decostijl in opdracht van de firma Stiel &Rothschild. Sinds 1998 is het gebouw beschermd. Tegenwoordig zijn het Archief en Museum van het Vlaams Leven en de redactie van De Morgen in het gebouw gevestigd.
De inplanting van dit atelier verwijst naar de commerciële functie van de buurt, dicht bij het kanaal. De Arduinkaai was de zuidkade van het 17de eeuwse einddok van het kanaal naar Willebroek. In 1827 werd het kanaal doorgetrokken naar Charleroi en de havenfunctie verlegde zich naar de stadsrand. Vanaf 1910-11 werd buiten de stad Brussel-Zeehaven aangelegd. Toen werd ook het dok aan de Arduinkaai gedempt en met bomen afgeboord. De commerciële functie van de wijk bleef bestaan. Vanaf de jaren '20 vestigden zich dan ook vele groothandels in de buurt. In 1926 was Stiel en Rothschild één van hen.
