Es liegt im Südwesten der Stadt Leeuwarden, zwischen Mantgum und Beers. Der Dorfkern befindet sich an der Westseite des Deichs, der Hegedyk, der ehemaligen Middelzee. Durch das Dorfgebiet fließt der Weidumervaart, der mit dem Jorwerdervaart verbunden ist, der in den Wielervaart übergeht. Auf der Ostseite des Dorfgebiets fließt die Zwette. Im Jahr 2021 hatte das Dorf 550 Einwohner.
