Rietmoeras
Op het eerste gezicht groeit er vooral riet in het rietmoeras. Maar tussen het riet komen bijzondere planten voor zoals draadzegge. Ook wilde gagel, een struikachtige plant, voelt zich thuis in deze omgeving. Hij bloeit in het voorjaar en is dan getooid met een typische, roodbruine kleur. Zowel de de bladeren als de bloemen scheiden een harsachtig geur af. In het bier Gageleer herken je deze typische geur.
De blauwborst vindt hier zijn ideale leefgebied. Vanaf half maart kan je deze kleine lijsterachtige met zijn blauwe borst hier aantreffen.
Begeef je niet in het moeras. Door de vele drassige laagtes en putten is dit erg gevaarlijk. De vegetatie is er ook zeer kwetsbaar.
