Een van dé toeristische trekpleisters van Mol is ongetwijfeld het Zilvermeer. Maar wist je dat deze populaire waterplas in de negentiende eeuw ook een zandwinningsput was? In 1910 werd er gestopt met ontginnen en vanaf 1930 ontstond er strandtoerisme rond de put. Sinds 1959 is het officieel een provinciaal domein waar jaarlijks tienduizenden bezoekers komen.
