KoeIn 1961, the village of Hay-On-Wye, located along the river Wye became the bookvillage of Wales.
It is comparable with the Dutch village of Bredevoort and the Belgian village of Redu. Wherever you are in the village, there is a bookshop. Today, there are 35 bookshops and more than 1 million books.

On April 1977, the local excentric Richard Booth announced the independence of the village, and became king. It was the 1st of April, though, ...
