In the townhall of Lüneburg an ancient ham is on display because the ham of Lüneburg is a delicacy. The legend is that a hunter from Lüneburg wounded a wild boar. The animal died in the brine springs of Lüburg. The boar was discovered only after a while. At that time the meat had absorbed the salt of the water. According to this legend, this was the origin of the delicious ham of Lüneburg.
