100km in 15 sec: Routings engine of Routeplanner tuned
The routings-engine that calculates the nicest, fastest or shortest route for your bicycle, motorbike or walking trip has been tuned to reach a much higher performance.
In less than 15 seconds, you can produce a route of more than 100kms. The engine makes a balance between the most beautiful and the shortest path when you select the option 'nicest'.
You can try the following:
1) Activate the RoutePlanner
2) Click on Routing
3) Zoom in on an area you know well (this only works in areas of the Benelux)
4) Click on the map to mark a first point
5) Click on the map to mark a 2nd point (less than 25 km further!). A path is being calculated.
6) Switch the Type-option from shortestto nicests
7) Reposition the last (red) point a little bit
You will get now the nicest vs the shortest path. Check if you agree with our definition of 'nicest'. But take into account that we have to keep a balance between beauty and distance. Not everybody wants to drive too many kms to see beauty!
