Towards the Figsbury Ring via the 2nd & 3rd ley line and back

This cycling road takes you to a few amazing prehistorical sites near Salisbury. It starts at the railwaystation of Salisbury, and passes the cathedral, Old Sarum and goes to the Figsbury Ring. Some sources state that the line Old Sarum - Figsbury ring is the 2nd ley line. Since there is no real path along that ley line, this route makes a detour and just connects the end and the beginning of the ley line. Look at those spots in the direction 78° to follow the ley line. The tour brings you back to Salisbury.

Salisbury Cathedral
Salisbury
Originally, Salisbury Cathedral was built in Old Sarum. However, since the cathedral was destroyed by a lightning it was rebuilt here in Salisbury. The underlying reason was that it was a response to deteriorating relations between the clergy and the military at Old Sarum. Legend has it that the Bishop of Old Sarum shot an arrow in the direction he would build the cathedral, the arrow hit a deer and the deer finally died in the place where Salisbury Cathedral is now. The foundation stone was laid on 28 April 1220
