Schipdonk- og Leopoldskanalen er i det Brugse Ommeland tilstrækkeligt kendt som Blinker og Stinker. Kanalerne blev gravet halvvejs i det 19. århundrede for at sikre dræningen af de østflamske enge, og fra starten af fik Leopoldskanalen takket være sit rene Meetjesland-vand det flatterende etiket 'Blinker'.
