Das Kloster Einsiedeln mit seiner Abtei- und Kathedralkirche Maria Himmelfahrt und Meinrad von Einsiedeln ist eine exemte Benediktinerabtei in der Gemeinde Einsiedeln im Kanton Schwyz. Die Abtei ist eine bedeutende Station auf dem Jakobsweg und selbst Ziel zahlreicher Pilger. Die Schwarze Madonna von Einsiedeln in der Gnadenkapelle sind Anziehungspunkt für Pilger und Touristen. Die Gemeinschaft zählt rund 60 Mitglieder. Das Kloster ist nicht Teil einer Diözese, sondern hat den Status einer Territorialabtei.
Seit seiner Gründung im Jahre 1130 gehört das Benediktinerinnenkloster Fahr bei Zürich zur Abtei Einsiedeln. Dadurch ist der Abt von Einsiedeln auch derjenige des Klosters Fahr. Sie bilden zusammen das weltweit einzige noch erhalten gebliebene Doppelkloster im Benediktinerorden.
