Castellón de Ampurias[1] [2] es un municipio español situado en la comarca del Alto Ampurdán, en la provincia de Gerona, España. Contaba con una población censada de 12.111 habitantes en 2009 .[3]
El municipio se encuentra a unos 17 m de altitud sobre el nivel del mar y tiene una superficie de 42,3 km², dentro de los cuales se incluye el Parque Natural de las Marismas del Ampurdán. Tiene dos núcleos de población: el núcleo medieval de Castellón de Ampurias en el interior, y marina residencial de Ampuriabrava.
