De Sint-Annakerk was de parochiekerk van de familie van Maurice Maeterlinck. Toen zijn broer Oscar verdronk in 1891 werd de uitvaart hier gehouden, eveneens als de begrafenis van zijn moeder Mathilde van den Bossch, waar ook Cyriel Buysse aanwezig was. Beiden liggen begraven in een bewaard familiegraf op het kerkhof van de Wondelgemdries, dichtbij de rechterzijmuur van de kerk. Cyriel Buysse schreef over de begrafenis van de moeder het volgende: ''In de ruime Sint-Annakerk, waar volgens traditioneel gebruik bij voorname families, tarwestro over de kerkvloer lag gespreid, waren veel mensen de plechtigheid komen bijwonen''
