Der Hoge Blekker (33 Hektar) ist der Blickfang an der belgischen Küste. Seinen Namen verdankt er seinem Aussehen. Mit seinen 33 Metern ist er die höchste Düne der gesamten belgischen Küstenregion. Die Düne war ein festes Seezeichen für die Seeleute, die von weitem schon seinem weißen Rücken blinken (blekken, örtlicher Dialekt für blinken). Der Hoge Blekker ist eine stattliche Wanderdüne, die im Laufe der Zeit schon einen großen Abstand zurückgelegt hat.
