Die Landesgewerbeanstalt Bayern ist eine Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts mit Sitz Nürnberg. Die Kernaufgabe der LGA ist die Prüfung von baustatischen Berechnungen.
Sie verfügt über 8 Prüfämter für Standsicherheit mit insgesamt 18 Standorten in ganz Bayern. Solche unabhängigen, fachkundigen Bauwerksprüfungen folgen dem Vier-Augen-Prinzip. Die grundsätzlichen Regelungen finden sich in den Bauordnungen der Länder.
