Der Gatwick Airport ist mit 46 Millionen Passagieren im Jahr nach Heathrow der zweitgrößte der Londoner Flughäfen und des Vereinigten Königreiches sowie achtgrößter Flughafen Europas . Er wurde am 9. Juni 1958 von Königin Elisabeth II. eröffnet.
Der Flughafen liegt etwa 40 Kilometer südlich von London im Borough of Crawley in der Grafschaft West Sussex, etwa auf halbem Weg zur Kanalküste mit dem Seebad Brighton.
