Le chert de Rhynie est un dépôt sédimentaire contenant des fossiles du Dévonien, trouvé près du village de Rhynie, Aberdeenshire, en Écosse. Un site secondaire nommé chert de Windyfield se situe à 700 mètres du site originel de Rhynie. Le chert de Rhynie constitue un cas particulier de préservation exceptionnelle contenant des végétaux et des animaux pétrifiés en trois dimensions révélant leur structure interne, grâce à la fixation rapide de minéraux siliceux issue de sources hydrothermales.
