La HMS Abdiel è stata una posamine della Classe Abdiel che prestò servizio per la Royal Navy durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Negli anni fu inserita nella Mediterranean Fleet , nell'Eastern Fleet , nella Home Fleet , quindi di nuovo nella Mediterranean Fleet . Fu affondata da una mina nel porto di Taranto nel 1943. Anche se progettata come posamine, la sua velocità e la capacità di carico la rendevano adatta per l'impiego come trasporto veloce.
Il 22 marzo 1941 l'Abdiel interruppe le prove di accettazione con l'ordine di posare un campo minato, per contrastare l'uscita da Brest delle navi da battaglia tedesche Scharnhorst e Gneisenau. Nelle operazioni 'GV', 'GX' e 'GY', l'Abdiel insieme con Intrepid, Impulsive, e Icarus scortate da Kipling, Kelly e Jackal, dal 23 al 28 marzo stese un campo minato in prossimità del Little Sole Bank a 40 miglia nautiche WSW di Brest.
