De industrialisatie in de 19e eeuw gaf aanleiding tot het ontstaan van het Kanaal Bossuit-Kortrijk. Een pompgebouw moest het van water voorzien. Door de toenemende scheepvaart was het rond 1970 noodzakelijk om het kanaal te verbreden en een nieuw pompgebouw te bouwen. Vandaag biedt dit prachtig stukje industriële archeologie onderdak aan de VVV West-Vlaamse Scheldestreek en Brasserie Beaufort. Het streekbezoekerscentrum illustreert de geschiedenis en leert alles over de streek.
