Der Ursprung des Rathauses auf dem Marktplatz von Binche – wo zuvor die Fleischhalle stand – hängt mit der Entwicklung der Stadt und der Entwicklung der städtischen Freiheiten zusammen, für die der Belfried oder Glockenturm ein anderes wichtiges Symbol ist.
Aus diesem Grund wurde er auch auf die Liste des Weltkulturerbes der UNESCO gesetzt. Die drei Arkaden im Erdgeschoss und im Fundament des Belfrieds stammen aus dem 14. Jahrhundert. Er beherbergt eine Uhr und ein Glockenspiel aus dem 16. Jahrhundert.
Das Rathaus wurde im 16. Jahrhundert von Jacques Du Broeucq überarbeitet und gegen 1770 von Laurent-Benoît Dewez im neogotischen Stil umgebaut. Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts
erhielt es sein ursprüngliches Aussehen zurück.
