Das an der West-Vlaamse Bergenroute gelegene Wulvergem zählt nur 280 Einwohner und ist damit das älteste Dorf der Region.
Es wurde während des Ersten Weltkrieges vollständig zerstört; die gotische Kirche aus dem 15. Jh. wurde 1914 verwüstet aber 1922-1923 als dreischiffiges neugotisches Gebäude wieder errichtet.
Die aus dem 15. Jh. stammende Christus-Büste stammt aus der alten Kirche. Im neuen Turm erinnern Backsteinfiguren an die Familie Le Coq, die damals über das Dorf regierte.
Der Dekor aus Back- und Naturstein vermittelt einen angenehmen Eindruck.
Im Dorf selbst kann man eine Walfischskulptur von Willem Vermandere bestaunen.
