Perpignan [pɛʀpiˈɲɑ̃] ist die Hauptstadt des südfranzösischen Départements Pyrénées-Orientales in der Region Okzitanien und hat 119.344 Einwohner . Die Stadt liegt am Golfe du Lion, einem Teil des Mittelmeers, am Fluss Têt an der Autoroute A9 , etwa 70 km südlich von Narbonne und 30 km nördlich der Staatsgrenze zu Spanien. Nordöstlich der Stadt liegt der Flughafen Perpignan-Rivesaltes, der 700.000 Fluggäste pro Jahr befördert. Touristen schätzen die Stadt aufgrund ihres mediterranen Klimas sowie der sehenswerten Altstadt mit ihrem südöstlich gelagerten Kneipenviertel.
