Fort Fisher war eine Befestigungsanlage des Konföderierten Heeres während des Sezessionskrieges. Es schützte die lebenswichtigen Nachschubwege zum Hafen von Wilmington, North Carolina während der Zeit von 1861 bis zur Eroberung durch die Truppen der Nordstaaten 1865.
Es liegt auf einer Landzunge im Mündungsbereich des Cape Fear Rivers in den Atlantischen Ozean. Zur damaligen Zeit bekannt als „Federal Point“, North Carolina, heißt die Gegend heute „Pleasure Island“, North Carolina.
Der Hafen von Wilmington liegt etwa 50 Kilometer stromaufwärts von der Mündung des Cape Fear Rivers in den Atlantischen Ozean.
