El Zancliense, a veces referido como Zancleano, Zancleense o Zanclayense, es la edad y piso inferior de la época y serie Plioceno. Se extiende de 5.332 ± 0.02 Ma hasta 3.6 ± 0.005 Ma. Le precede la edad Mesiniense de la época miocena y le sigue el Plioceno.
Fue definido por Giuseppe Seguenza en 1868 y nombrado en referencia a Zancla, el nombre pre-romano de la ciudad de Mesina en Sicilia.
