Le pont suspendu de Menai , dû à Thomas Telford, franchit le détroit de Menai, un bras de mer entre l'île d'Anglesey et le comté Gwynedd .
Avant l'ouverture de ce pont en 1826, la traversée ne pouvait être effectuée que par un bac, ou bien à pied à marée basse, mais non sans difficultés. En 1800, lorsque fut signé l'Acte d'Union, les échanges avec l'Irlande s'accrurent notablement, et l'on décida la construction d'un pont pour relier commodément le port d'Holyhead au reste du territoire britannique.
