Milies werd gesticht en gebouwd door mensen van een gelijknamig dorp op het eiland Euboea (Evvia). De vele piraten aanvallen op Evvai werden hen te veel. Dit dorp is dan ook in het binnenland gebouwd, behoorlijk ver genoeg van de zee. Milies was als zodanig niet genoemd naar een plaats waar appels groeien (hoewel ze hier ook wel groeien), maar werd genoemd naar een dorp in Evvia zoals je in het lokale museum kan leren.
