De Oisterwijkse vennen zijn ontstaan nadat laagten werden uitgeblazen door de wind, tot de meer lemige lagen bereikt werden. Het water stagneerde op deze lagen en de vennen werden gevormd. Deze vennen liggen te midden van de bossen en heidevelden van natuurgebied Kampina.
