Gironella és una vila i municipi de la comarca del Berguedà, situat entre els termes municipals de Casserres, Olvan, Sagàs i Puig-reig.
No s'ha pogut resseguir la situació de l'actual municipi de Gironella durant la prehistòria perquè no s'hi han pogut trobar jaciments arqueològics. Tot i això, la Rosa Serra afirma que la situació dels pobladors de la zona hauria de ser semblant a la de la resta del Baix Berguedà.
