Salt és un municipi de Catalunya situat a la comarca del Gironès que forma part de l'àrea urbana de la ciutat de Girona.
S'estén per la riba dreta del riu Ter, dins el pla de Girona. Al nord i a l'oest limita amb el municipi de Sant Gregori; al sud, amb els de Bescanó i Vilablareix; i a l'est, amb el de Girona. Els seus 30146 habitants , viuen majoritàriament dedicats a la indústria i als serveis. Les activitats tradicionals agrícoles, especialment la de les hortes regades per la séquia Monar, es troben en regressió.
