Vejer de la Frontera és un municipi de la província de Cadis, Andalusia, Espanya. Posseeix 8 km de costa, denominada com la platja d'El Palmar de Vejer. Està situada a una altitud de 201 metres i a 54 quilòmetres de la capital de província, Cadis.Vejer va estar poblada des del paleolític i ja estava fortificada a l'edat del bronze. En època preromana es va denominar Besaro i s'han trobat restes del segle VII aC sota les muralles actuals. Durant l'etapa romana passa a denominar-se Baesippo. En el 711 va passar a mans musulmanes després de la batalla de la Janda, en la qual els musulmans, comandats per Tàriq ibn Ziyad, van derrotar Roderic.
