Novelda és una ciutat del sud del País Valencià a la comarca del Vinalopó Mitjà, coneguda per la seua viticultura i el comerç d'espècies i marbre. En 2014 era la tercera ciutat en població de la comarca amb 26.292 habitants.
La ciutat, amb una superfície de 75,7 km², es troba a la ribera dreta del riu Vinalopó, a 250 m d'altitud sobre el nivell del mar, al cor de la comarca. Ocupa un lloc privilegiat en el pas natural entre la meseta castellana i la costa mediterrània. Eixes característiques físiques han ajudat que Novelda sempre haja sigut terra de pas per a mercaderies i persones. Al nord limita amb Elda, al nord-oest amb Monòver, al nord-est amb Petrer, a l'oest amb la Romana, al sud amb Asp i al sud-est amb Montfort.
